SYNTSIS / Laura Herrero

Laura Herreros / ESDAP Catalunya / Campus Llotja

SYNTSIS
is a collection focused on research, experimentation and development of new technologies used in textile design and how these new approaches can be implemented in the textile industry and generate new methods. The main objective of this work is to develop catwalk garments whose use can be extended to commercial or artistic spheres both in the present and in the future. This work swings between humanism and transhumanism and combines intelligent materials with manual mechanisms. By doing so, little transformations are created. Those transformations help to see all the possible applications that make those garments Ready to Wear or Fast Fashion pieces of clothing.

The
volumetric and worked parts will enable the possibility of changing the garments by using innovative techniques such as the 3D impression, programmable figures and shapes, laser cuts, thermocromic dyes and memory-shape wires. By doing this, SYNTSIS tries not only to increase the value of the artist, creator or designer in this industrial hyperactive context, but also to focus on textiles that intend to mimic the future human skin. Taking advantage of this context we try to create controversy between the positive aspects of a continuously growing technology which makes life easier every day and, at the the same time, to question the power that it acquires on the individual.
