Can Molins / Andrea Sueiro

Andrea Sueiro / ESDAP Catalunya / Campus Llotja

Can Molins is a farmhouse located in Sant Climent del Llobregat, in the Baix Llobregat region. This disused eighteenth-century building has been given two new uses and is a symbiosis of an animal shelter and a children’s holiday camp. The idea arose from two pressing social matters: the abandonment of animals and a lack of public awareness of this situation. These two problems can be solved through just one initiative: the Can Molins project.

The entire project takes up two floors of the building. The first floor will house the Espai Blanc, a space assigned to the summer camp common areas: room holding workshops, kitchen, dining room and toilets. This floor will be for cats. The Espai Refugi, on the other floor, will host activities with dogs and will give them shelter. It is therefore a place for interacting with animals.

The farmhouse will also host a dialogue between the old and the new, and the building’s original materials will coexist harmoniously with new metal structures.
