Dress up your shit / Anna Solà

Anna Solà / ESDAP Catalunya / Campus Llotja

The climate emergency is a global social phenomenon that is clearly the result of human activity. Such activity is conducted in a capitalist system with infinite interests but finite resources. The main purpose of this project is to create an artistic-conceptual wardrobe for a performance capable of showcasing the current panorama of production processes in the textile industry, their environmental and social consequences, and the need to increase recycling in the fashion sector.

The Dress up your shit project is intended to give the members of the audience the information they need to be aware of their power as consumers to transform the fashion system.

Surveys undertaken prior to the study, bibliographical research, and a campaign to collect clothing for use in the project provided the bases for the ideas and concepts that are expressed in the performance. The challenge lies in tailoring garments while upcycling recycled fabrics, making use of textile waste, and avoiding the purchase of raw materials.

This project arose from a need to contribute to society, a desire to encourage reflection among consumers through clothes and art, and the idea that it may become a tool for fair, social, and ecological change.
